In yesterday’s New York Post, two NFIB/NY members were quoted prominently in an article describing the realities of a minimum wage hike on small businesses. As I and other partners have been saying for the past few months, this will limit hiring, cause job loss and raise the cost of goods and services. Today’s New York Post editorial page agrees with this assessment.
As the final state budget negotiations take place over the next couple of days, it is imperative that Governor Cuomo and Senate Majority Leader Skelos listen to what NFIB, other business organizations and most importantly, actual business owners are saying. A minimum wage hike will further weaken New York’s economic opportunities and force many out of the job market.
